Koushalya Kayal is into organic farming since 2009, the year when the cyclone Aila flooded all her cultivated land with saline water. This incident required a more reliable technique to regain the fertility of the land. Hence, she took up organic farming. Currently, she undertakes organic farming in 0.55 acres of land in the Sunderbans region. Her husband is not much capable of manual hard work and hence she takes up the responsibility to add values to her family through organic farming.
